How To Minimize Eye Bags And Puffiness With Items From Your Kitchen
As the years go by, my eyes are where my age is showing. Whether with eye wrinkles, eye bags, or puffy eyes, I hate it. So, what is a girl to do? Well, recently I was able to talk with an Esthetician friend of mine who gave me some great tips on how to bag those puffy eyes! And the best part is you can do this without having to purchase a skincare product. But instead with items found in our kitchen!
You see, it is just as important what we put in our body as what we put on it. So without further ado, here are some of her home remedies for eye bags and puffiness!
Add Anti-inflammatory Foods To Your Diet To Help Bag Those Eye Bags
Berries
Berries contain antioxidants called anthocyanins. These compounds have anti-inflammatory effects that can help with eye bags, which is why I have added them to my anti-inflammatory diet.
For an extra boost, I add this amazing MIRACLE REDS from Macroslife into my smoothie. This superfruit supplement is a blend of blueberries, boysenberries, elderberries, blackberries, and red raspberries. It is packed with antioxidants proven to help mop-up unstable free radicals that damage cells.
Tart Cherries
Cherries are great at fighting inflammation. This fruit reduces the C-reactive protein levels in the body and helps it stay low. (This protein level rises when there is inflammation in your body).
Aside from eating raw cherries, I have also found great cherry benefits, in this pure cherry juice, I found at Trader Joes.
Broccoli is rich in sulforaphane, an antioxidant that fights inflammation. It is also full of many vitamins and minerals essential for the skin, including zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin A.
Mushrooms
The anti-aging benefits of mushrooms are enormous. They also have a great deal of nutritional value, full of micronutrients, low in carbohydrates and sodium and high in fiber and potassium (more than a banana), oh and they have no fat!
Make A DIY Eye Mask
There are plenty more things in our pantry for a Pantry To Pretty DIY mask, see some of these below:
Cucumber
Place some chilled cucumber slices on your eyes and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Tea Bags
Tea contains tannin, that is an excellent mild diuretic, which makes tea bags great for helping to get rid of puffy eyes. Simply place two tea bags in warm water and then chill them in the frig! Once they are cool apply to the eye area.
Avocados
Place some slices (or I prefer to smash) of avocados under your eyes and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Avocados are great at not only helping with eye bags but also dark circles.
Bonus: The Antioxidant Benefits Of Superfoods
Being women in her forties, we need as many rich antioxidants that we can get! Mainly because they are amazing at helping to neutralize free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals can wreak havoc on the body, especially the skin as they cause damage to the cellular structure. This damage can speed up the skin’s aging, by breaking down the skin’s collagen, which can lead to premature aging with sagging, wrinkled skin and who the heck wants that?
Antioxidant molecules found in superfoods can decrease and in some cases, reverse the effects of free radicals, which is one reason I am all about them! But it doesn’t stop there. Superfoods are great at basically supercharging your health, immunity-boosting, and more!
